Dennis Garrett and Albert Jimenez have been building custom cold molded boats in Costa Rica since 1980 when they started D.C.N. While they owned DCN, they pioneered the use of local hardwoods in cold molding.
They built the first sport fishing boats in Costa Rica, which are still fishing, & winning tournaments today. For 20 years they built Palm Beach 30’s and 40’ Custom Sport fishermen for a Stuart, Florida based company. Their first project a 50’ sailboat is presently based in the South Pacific.
The Palm Beach 30 is well known among knowledgeable fishermen many of which have fished on them in Costa Rica & Guatemala. Notably the Gamefisher II, Magic, Kingfisher, Swordfish, Silhouette & Top Gun among others. In 2001 Dennis and Albert sold their interest in D.C.N. and started D & A Yachts in order to build a Dennis Garrett designed 38’ Sportfisherman. The first 3 have been completed and are in Los Suenos, Costa Rica, where they stand out at the dock due to their finish and on the water for their performance, economy, and fish catching ability.
They have just completed a refit of Gamefisher II owned & captained by Richard Chellemi. Gamefisher II has over 20 years and 36,000 hours fishing in Costa Rica and has caught well over 18,000 billfish and won or placed in more tournaments than any other boat in Costa Rica. The Magic has fished in Costa Rica & Guatemala and is arguably the most successful sport fisherman of all time with over 20,000 billfish and twice broken the all time billfish caught & released in a year record.
Why settle for a production fiberglass boat when you can have a custom built cold molded craft that has tremendous resale value, beautiful fit and finish, lower operating costs and are certifiable fish raisers.
